Our generation soldiers fuss about the occasional protesters who were in diapers when the Gulf War hit, but this is a college town area and I figure its just ignorance on their part. I can't imagine being treated this way as it embarrasses me on behalf of being human. I know war is war, now matter when it happens....it just seems the Vietnam Vets had it harder when they came home. Listening to so many of them talk made me have a different perspective and I was really glad that I was invited to attend this event. My father was the oldest serving in the army, but my three uncles were drafted first. Rather than send the last son over, they sent him to Korea. My dad really fusses about missing the action, but was treated with hate just as much upon coming home. I think rather than sending ours who want to go, they ought to cattle prod the protesters into uniforms and ship them overseas to fight. Maybe that would change their thinking a little!!! Hahaha! God bless you, honey. I am a lady veteran of the Vietnam Era. No, I didn't go to VN but because I was in the service at the time I had first hand knowledge of what it was like for my brothers coming home from that god forsaken war to be treated like pariahs by their follow countrymen. Those were very hard times to be in the military serving your country no matter where you were stationed. Thank you for being there for all the veterans and for caring and thank you for your outrage!Denise Sephusnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4084876361608306937.post-66422539277815089602010-06-05T19:17:12.348-07:002010-06-05T19:17:12.348-07:00I am right alongside you... I feel ashamed that the Vietnam vets were treated so horribly and today it seems like this fucking nation again chooses to treat them with the same indifference they did forty years ago.

Shameful!PTSD, A Caregiver's Perspectivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14880657272299182629noreply@blogger.com
