Sorry thi...You are more than welcome for the info. Sorry things didn't work out for your husband with PBB. I know that he's not the only one who has been greatly disappointed in the same manner. Another resource you might check out is BringChange2Mind.org . They also have a very active facebook page. I volunteer for them and they address all mental illness including PTSD. It is an organization started by Glenn Close who is an amazing advocate for mental illness. Can't wait to read what you will write about next!!Ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16280283528451638315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4084876361608306937.post-82759860357019643342010-09-05T17:19:56.253-07:002010-09-05T17:19:56.253-07:00Gina, thanks for the info on NAMI. We applied for the PBB program and got turned down for the dog. They want my husband to quit his job and be 100% disabled or choose another profession. I think the program is great and he did qualify, they just could not get the difference between being a big city like New York and being here in TN. They told us once he got his 100% to reapply, but they did it in an email and after building him up and giving him hope...they sent a "sorry charlie" email. He went downhill from there and is getting increasingly worse. I am a HUGE supporter of the dog programs and from what I researched on it...it does wonders. We can't get 100% for his severe PTSD no matter how many times we reapply and have letters of documentation. His psychiatrists deemed him unemployable and not capable of being in the real world and it doesn't even count. It's so frustrating because when they told us that we did qualify and got our hopes up, that was like a HUGE sigh of relief. Then nothing. I am glad you guys got one and it is a wonderful program. I guess we hoped and prayed too much and just wasn't our luck of the draw. Thanks so much for your input and resource!!!Uncle Sam's Mistresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01179663021921239430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4084876361608306937.post-34245748962535825362010-09-05T11:11:28.224-07:002010-09-05T11:11:28.224-07:00Thanks for posting all of this! They can provide resources and help in finding a counselor or support group in your area.

Also, my husband has a psychiatric service dog from Puppies Behind Bars and so I thought I would mention it as it is one of your tabs. His service dog Frankie is amazing and has made a huge difference in our lives.

Thanks again for your sharing, often very personal stuff. It really does make a difference.Ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16280283528451638315noreply@blogger.com
